Grace Baptist Church -
Grace Baptist Mission was conceived on April 8, 2004.   A body of interested believers met in a room of Ryan's Steakhouse in Columbus , Mississippi, with the desire to start a new ministry for the Lord Jesus Christ.  At that initial meeting, we voted to call Charles Whitney as our Pastor.
We began meeting for worship at the Wingate Inn on Sunday, April 18, 2004.  On April 28, 2004, we voted for Grace Baptist Church to come under the watch care of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama.  Bro. David Cullison, their pastor, was an invaluable help to us.
On May 12, 2004, our church began inquiring about the possible purchase of the property at 708 Airline Road in Columbus.  After much prayer and discussion, the property was purchased on August 12, 2004, from the Church of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The two-acre property included the church building, furniture, piano, and organ.  The church members began remodeling the inside of the building in order to be more in keeping with our worship and doctrine.
We held a dedication service the evening of Saturday, November 20, 2004.  The following day, Sunday, November 21, 2004, we had our first Lord's Day service in our new facilities.  We began Sunday School (Bible Study) in January 2005, and on March 6, 2005, we hosted an Open House.
Our first baptismal service was June 11, 2006.  We elected deacons in April 2007.  On November 18, 2007, three years after moving into these facilities, we had a Note Burning Service celebrating the retirement of our debt on the property and to celebrate the faithfulness and generosity of God and His people.

This sanctuary holds a unique place in our hearts as a symbol of God's presence during key parts of our faith journey.  memories have been made here and faith has been formed.  What is best symbolized in the building is our relationship with God and with one another.

We are a Mission minded Church.  Some projects that we have been involved in:  Helping Hands Ministry, and world Changers Ministry.  We have helped a Seminary Student while he was in School and we also helped a missionary in Alaska thru the North American Mission Board.
We at Grace pray that this property will be a place where the Lord Jesus Christ is treasured above all else, where many will many will accept Him as Lord and Savior, where future generations will grow up in God's truth, where believers are awakened and challenged by the glory of our great God, where the supremacy of God is held high before all men, cultures and nations, and where the inspired Word of God is central in the pulpit, classrooms, and lives of Grace Baptist Church.  A place to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
